A five-year-old girl named Sunita was born with a severely damaged heart, and doctors at India's Fortis Hospital decided that the only way to repair it would be to perform a complicated, high-risk surgery known as the Nikaidoh Procedure. This procedure is very rarely performed due to its risks, but thanks to 3D printed surgical models of Sunita's heart, the surgeons were able to assess the damaged areas and plan the surgery before operating.
