Last year, drone manufacturer Flirtey achieved a first when they completed an FAA-approved drone delivery of medical supplies to a rural US clinic. Last week, Flirtey made history again with the first FAA-approved, automated drone delivery to an urban area in the United States. The partially 3D printed drone successfully flew along a pre-determined path and lowered a package of bottled water, emergency food supplies and a first-aid kit to a residential area in Hawthorne, Nevada. This successful delivery is a major stepping stone for Flirtey and their partners, meaning that the day when we all receive deliveries via drone may not be very far off at all.
