The bioprinting industry is heating up in numerous directions, with the latest in research being discussed at the 251st National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society (ACS). Dr. Paul Gatenholm and his team have been responsible for furthering their development of 3D printed scaffolds which are able to assist in the regrowth of cartilage once implanted in the body. So far this has been tested successfully in mice, once the team overcame the challenges in finding a proper material structure. It is expected that human trials will happen in the near future.
