So is there a best distance from the print surface to the Peachy printer laser?

There is a best range for what we ship in a V1 kit.
We recommend first building a standard setup which prints between with the resin 140 mm away at the farthest and 60 mm away at the closest.
after you get that working you will likely understand the unconventional ways of the peachy well enough to build something different.

So far we have had successfull prints as far as one meter away from the resin.
If you go further than that you might want to post some draft design files in a new thread here first so I can make a few suggestions, and possibly send you some parts more suited for your printer.
