The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing, part of Nanyang Technological University, is developing plans to 3D print high-rise public housing buildings within the next few years. The construction would involve 3D printing each level of the building separately and then stacking them like Legos. The Centre intends to formally present its plans to government agencies later this year, and if all goes according to plan, a prototype could be developed within three years. The Centre was started and funded by the government with the intention of researching the ways that 3D printing can be used within Singapore, including the development of more productive, less labor-intensive construction methods.
