There's a lot of controversy about "pinkifying" tech to make it more appealing to girls and women, but when it comes to a certain segment of elementary school girls, sometimes wrapping STEM subjects in a pretty package is the key to sparking their interest. STEM Divas is a program developed by Northern Illinois University's STEM Outreach team, and it teaches girls in the 7- to 10-year-old age range about science and tech by appealing to the "girly-girl" in them.
