US soldier Chelsea Manning has been in prison for six years, ever since being arrested for releasing confidential information, including war logs from Iraq and Afghanistan to WikiLeaks. She recently wrote about the isolation, invisibility and "non-existence" she feels in prison - particularly since when she was arrested, she was Bradley Manning, who announced an impending gender transition shortly after conviction. Artist Heather Dewey-Hagborg was struck by Manning's story, and used a controversial forensic technique to create 3D printed portraits of Manning using her actual DNA to generate the images.
