The surgical staff at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami took on the complicated case of baby Teegan, who was born with a rare condition that left her with only a single lung and half of a functional heart. When her first doctors gave her a grim diagnosis, her parents contacted the hospital in Miami who agreed to see if they could help. Unfortunately with a broken 3D printer unable to give them a closer look at her heart, they were forced to think of something else to save her life. They had recently been using Google Cardboard to explore the possibility of using virtual reality to get better views of patients bodies, and this case seemed to be an ideal time to try it.
