Builds that are really tough on your printer

What kind of files would you say put your printer through extra "stress"?

I'm printing a file right now that I would say will do that.

The reason being is that it consists of multiple round "posts" and several rectangular posts, spaced 2 to 4 inches apart.

That means the print head has a LOT of moving to do. Here is what it looks like......
would you consider this build to be "hard on a 3D printer" ?
Am I nuts to try to print this?
Maybe I should print this at a reduced speed to limit the speed that the head has to change directions?

Heck, my big four headed dragon candle holder had my printer singing quite the tune. I don't see any problem printing what you're printing.

I would say any print with alot of retraction has my printer noticeably whiney.

From my limited experence I would lower the speed of travel of the print head between posts (i.e. non printing moves) to allow the material of the 'rods' to reduce in temperature enough to hold their shape for the next layer when it comes round.

Can you explain what you mean by "Rods" ? Are you referring to the long silver rods the extrusion assembly rides on?

My guess is he means small posts that are being printed.

I will take this as a learning curve for me, I will try to be more carefull in my future replies to ensure the wording can have only one meaning; but with limited characters in a reply it can be a problem.

I nearly used the word 'posts' instead of 'replies' in the above, that would have made it even more confusing.
