While we are inspired and impressed on a continual basis by the very serious impacts being made by 3D printing--around the world--often it’s just as inspirational to take a respite and enjoy the whimsical innovations made by the technology as well. Mixing high-tech, art, and poetry, designers Drzach & Suchy were inspired by the shadows made by water bugs as they swim. Seemingly invisible, all you can follow are the shadows made by their legs as they move along swiftly in the water catching prey. The designers decided to use the invisibility/shadow concept to their own advantage in making 3D printed haikus that only show themselves when the sheets of materials are submerged in water.
