3D printers have gone from room size creations to desktop machines but they have yet to make the transition to a truly portable, laptop like version. Artist Laura Devendorf used her time as Artist in Residence with Autodesk to explore the possibilities for portable printing...with the human hand. The easel that she created uses a laser guide to read the landscape and a mobile app that converts that information into 3D models and gives instructions to the human hand as it would otherwise be giving to the 3D printer head. It's time to get up, get out, and do some plein air printing! Read more about this back to nature approach in the full article: http://3dprint.com/107832/3d-printing-in-plein-air/
