Philadelphia artist Doctor Octoroc is designing and 3D printing the entire city of Philadelphia one city block at a time. He started his project at the 1600 block of Market Street and his first block was Liberty Plaza, which includes the Westin hotel and the PNC building. He is designing the city blocks as vector painted models rather than graphic texture maps so he can reproduce much finer details, some of which are as small as .1mm. He is also uploaded each city black to Shapeways as he designs them so anyone can 3D print their own along with him.
