Katherine Dance was diagnosed with five tumors including one cancerous one that outgrew her skull. When the tumor was removed, it left a dent in her head. Usually, a metal plate would be placed in the head to make up for the missing bone, however, in Dance's case there's hope that 3D printed bone can be surgically implanted to replace missing bone. This is a safer option than a metal plate, and this must serve as a comfort to a woman, once active as a scuba diving instructor and marathon runner, who now is struggling simply to walk.
