Asda in UK Will offer 3D Printing "Mini-me" Figures

One of the largest department stores in the UK, Asda, a Walmart company will begin shortly offering 3D printing services in their stores in the UK. They will allow people to print out miniature statues of themselves, in a variety of sizes, with a starting price of £40. The technology addition to Asda follows Tesco's recent announcement of offering 3D Printing in stores as well. Seems like the 29% of people who know about 3D Printing in the UK is about double or even triple in short time.

The ASDA supermarket chain in the UK has introduced the possibility for every person to have their very own mini-me...of themselves. They tried it out in 10 UK locations last year, and those stores now have the scanning booths permanently in-store. An on-site scanner creates thousands of images while you pose for 12 seconds and then uses those images to create a 3D portrait. That portrait is sent off site to print and in no time at all you've got an 8" high, full-color statue of yourself ready for use as a cake topper, a toy, or a memento.
