At the recent Guangzhou tourism expo held September 11 - 13 in China, one of the displays that garnered a great deal of attention featured 3D printed mobile bathrooms. The need to improve bathroom facilities was noted as a key element in the advancement of the tourism industry in an opening speech given at the expo by Zhu Xiaoping, the governor of Guangdong. The 3D printed bathrooms offer 10 toilet seats and technology that allows a central computer system to monitor occupancy, water usage, and the amount of waste expelled. In addition, the 3D printed unit costs no more than those that are traditionally fabricated and opens up customization opportunities that enhance their appeal.
