Saving Avocado Trees With 3D Printing

Researchers at the University of California, Riverside are using 3D printing technology to accelerate the study of a dangerous beetle-fungus complex which has been killing avocado trees in California and Israel. Professors of entomology at UC Riverside say 3D printing has been key to fighting the battle against this insidious beetle-fungus complex, and that having the 3D printed traps available allows them to study the impact of insecticides on the complex. The says that entomology, with its reliance on trapping, means 3D printing is ideal to allow them to build prototype traps quickly and will revolutionize they study invasive species.
