Some impressive 3D printed prototypes should come out of the Bay Area Makeathon, sponsored by Google, TOM, and MakerBot, as a large group of innovators get together to dream up new and helpful 3D printed projects that cannot be purchased ‘off-the-shelf.’ The designs will be judged with prizes awarded, and then all of the files will be available on Thingiverse for members there to join in another challenge in refining the Makeathon designs even further.
