What was the form you are printing?

Printing like a champ so far. Got the gantry aligned and upgrade on the firmware and off to the races. I'll run it for a while and then switch it over to the Flexion extruders and then I can start to play with the exotic stuff! A whole new headache!

    Nice print!
I am very happy with the results from the QIDI Tech-1. That was a long print at 100 microns and no problems - and all via USB and my remote setup.

I guess this really proves up the remote setup. I've been running two to three printers at a time from S3D via USB and my remote setup. It has been working well.

100 micron is really overkill. Next time try 160 micron with infill at every other layer. This makes infill print at 320 micron. You will about 1/2 the print time.

Yea, I know but I was really just wanting to see how it handled it. It was just an experiment to see how the printer did and I was also curious to see how the object would come out at that resolution. I might try another at a different resolution to see what the difference is, for fun that is and to learn.

    Good tips though, thanks.

No problem, also remember the rule of 40. In the Z axis every 40 microns is a full step. so 40, 80, 120, 160, 200, 240, 280 etc. are your prime layer heights. I've done some amazing stuff at 160, and most think it is 100 micron or less.

I see, so in theory I would want either 80 or 120 for instance and not 100? Is it then a good rule of thumb to have the layer height a multiple of 40 so if someone wanted .3 you could do 280 or 320?

Yep, 280 - 320, but with a .4 nozzle I would error on the side of 280. Better squish of the layers = better adhesion.

So if I just set the layer height to .28 how is that going to create a squish vs. .3 or .32?

The slicer will adjust the plastic volume for the different layer height. The problem with anything over .3 or even .3 is it is approaching the nozzle size so the "ropes" coming out lay down more round. I try not to do anything over .24 for shells with a .4 nozzle. But infill doesn't matter. That's one reason why I suggest 160 micron, because doing infill every other layer at 160 means infill is laid down at 320 which is well within the capabilities of a .4 nozzle. If you do .24 layers or .2 layers then every other is .4 and .48, which wont work well with a .4 nozzle.

What are you using for your remote setup?
I am using OctoPi right now. It works very well for the most part and the cam setup for it nice to be able to monitor it.
