Local Motors, US Dep. Of Energy Working together to 3D Print out Vehicle

This is some pretty impressive news. Local motors, which is an open sourced automotive production company has signed an agreement to work with the US Department of Energy to produce a 3D printed vehicle. Details are a bit lacking but an agreement is not in place!

The automotive industry will greatly benefit from this prototype 3D printing creation. I heard Jaguar is using the technology for rapid product development. Maybe later this year, aerospace will be adopting the so called Direct Digital Manufacturing or "additive manufacturing." The advent of 3D printing is really genius and it's here to stay.
