Anthony Dorsa, a sophomore mechanical engineering student at Binghamton University, designed a 3D printed, wind-powered USB charger after seeing the Thingiverse Catch The Wind challenge. After experimenting with a few turbine designs, Dorsa settled on the proven Savonius cup for its efficiency in smaller sizes. He also plans to incorporate a voltage regulator into the design at some point, and he's working on hand-cranked and solar versions of the charger.
