Lund University Creates Mobile Concrete 3D Printer

Olaf Diegel, already famed for his elaborate 3D printed instruments, is the head of Lund University's product development department. Working with another professor, Giorgos Nikoleris, and students Borja Serra and Lars Henrik, came together on a project that Helsinborg Hem had expressed interest in: the 3D printing of houses. The team set to work on a 3D printer (thus far nameless) that consists of an ABB IRB140 robotic arm attached to a print-head based on a pellet polymer extruder Diegel had developed previously. With a maximum print size of 910 x 676 x 1384 mm, the machine constructed out of aluminum extrusion.
