While 3D printed objects can be great, the need to print in multiple pieces and using support materials can make printing movable, functional objects difficult or tedious; designs that overcome these difficulties are especially impressive, and one from Seattle-based intentional3D is nothing short of amazing. Their 3D printable Platform Jack prints in one piece with no support materials, and is ready for use right off the print bed. By turning the device's knob clockwise, its scissor arms are sucked in, lifting and separating the top and bottom platforms; turning it counter-clockwise brings them together again. The intentional3D team has already released an updated design to adjust to some print issues some Thingiverse users were having, so it performs even more reliably.
