Fred, a Red-Footed Tortoise in Santos, São Paulo, Brazil, was unfortunately caught up in a recent forest fire that deteriorated the majority of his shell. As we saw back in March with Cleopatra the tortoise, 3D printing can help out with shell repairs for these animals--but Fred needed a much more extensive new shell than did Cleopatra. Veterinarians in Santos teamed up with a dentist and a graphical designer to create a new 3D printed shell for Fred that was ultimately surgically placed on the tortoise. Following some post-op illness, Fred is now doing well with his new 3D printed shell. Read more about Fred's case in the full article: http://3dprint.com/84180/3d-printed-...se-shell-fred/
