The team at Fathom has produced Project Pyra, the world’s first completely 3D printed smart oven. Capable of cooking up your steak or chicken proficiently, this device was created on the Stratasys Fortus 900mc 3D printer using ULTEM 1010 material, with full certification for food safety. The purely wireless device is a prime example of our future in appliances and smart tools as scientists and engineers explore the Internet of Things and find new tools that help them with specific applications such as cell incubation. While the cooking angle was really just a stunt, the Pyra can be used for any number of thermal applications in the lab, as well as other environments.
