Tomorrow a set of conjoined twins in China will undergo surgery to separate them for the first time. This surgery which involves separating their connection points, including the anus and part of the digestive tract, will be a complicated one. However, 3D printing has come to the surgical team's aid. They have created a 3D printed model of the twins and used that model to perform a "practice" surgery. This has allowed them to revise plans a bit and simulate exactly what they can expect to find when performing the real surgery.
