While everyone loves animated characters, and robotics are a source of fascination, coupling the two has been a source of challenge in the Disney Research lab, where they have decided to use digital design, 3D printing, and advanced recreational electronics to create robots that have the same unusual gait as their animated counterparts. So far, they have been able to create robots that walk without falling down and accomplish their goal for the most part, but they are still working on speed and other refinements in the legs which contain 3D printed links and segments as well as joints which are actuated by servos.
