Senior Environmental Design student at MICA, Austin Peppel used his thesis to address the ways in which 3D printing could positively impact the creation of musician's equipment. He focused specifically on making the bow for a violin that would create a sound comparable to that of one created using traditional methods. His interest in doing so was to create a product that didn't rely on the use of endangered woods and could be less expensively customized for the individual user.
