Developers at I3D say many 3D printers use extruders manufactured by Tytan 3D, but, while those extruders are effective and reasonably-priced extruders, maintaining them is a bit of a chore. To address that issue, I3D Innovations has built an accessory plate which will make the Goliath easier to use, maintain, and clean. The team at I3D say that maintaining the Goliath extruder requires a change over and adjustment to the MK7 drive gear and disassembly of the motor, and this disassembly is a fairly common event as it clogs quickly when the filament twists around the drive gear. They say the process requires a full 6 minutes to complete and gain the access needed to clean it, and that it’s difficult to guide the filament through the extruder. The "EasyFix" allows users to disassemble and reassemble the extruder and motor on the Goliath in just fifteen seconds.
