Intriate Detail Present in Dutch Student's Ceramic 3D Prints

Dutch design student and ceramist Olivier van Herpt’s 3D printed ceramics made their debut during Design Week in Milan in an exhibition that must surely have caused a stir. The humorously named exhibition, titled Eat Shit, confronts issues of food production, containment, and consumption. It featured research and projects created by students and faculty in the Design Academy Eindhoven’s new department, Food Non Food. Van Herpt’s bespoke 3D printer allows for the printing of medium- and larger-scale vessels thanks to adjustments he made to facilitate non-continuous extrusion, among other things.
