    GALA 3D Printer

3D printers are launching all the time, especially on crowdfunding sites. Some of them are truly eye-catching, with an extra something to offer, and the Gala 3D printer seems to be among these. Mariano Ronchi, CEO of Drotix, took the time to fill in 3DPrint.com about some of the new FFF-based 3D printer, which was designed with affordability and quality in mind. Ronchi and a group of colleagues designed the full-feature Gala to appeal to both hobby and professional users, with a large build envelope, fast and precise printing, and ease of use high among the list of specifications. The WiFi-compatible 3D printer can start print jobs remotely and be monitored via on-board camera. The Kickstarter campaign is slated to start on April 21 with 'Super Early Bird' pricing at $1,300, while the full retail price will be $1,800. Got some good features. Though i do query remotely starting a print.

The one thing you defintely need is to be there when a print starts. Don't care how well designed it is, sometimes the filament just doesn't stick, or gets caught or a bit sticks up.

Remote monitoring with the ability to abandon a print gone wrong - yeah that's useful.
Auto bed levelling - useful, 3d scanner - very useful.
And the price is actually competitive - for a change.
Aiming at the ultimaker end of the market.

Now let's see if it survives crowd funding :-)

You're right about being there when a print starts, 90% of the times we are there when print starts, what is really an advantage is that you can start the print with your phone, tablet or just browsing our digital library from the Gala touchscreen without carrying your computer... and then definitely you won't stick to the printer for long prints. The ability to monitor the printer from your phone will be very useful for long prints. Other feature that for shure will be useful is the automatic pause on extrusion failure detection (The printer will home the head, try to retract, cold the filament and reheat and if detects that problem was solved then resume the print after clean the head in the waste box. At the same time a message to user is sent.)
