RAPY - The First DC Motor 3D Printer on Kickstarter

Just saw this went up today I believe. It is the first DC Motor 3D Printer out there. Supposedly it has excellent precision. What do you guys think? Is the DC motor the way to go?

It's only $699, which seems like a really good price.

    ABBREVIATED SPECIFICATION

Without an extruder that can keep up, fast is relative. I don't know much about "DC Motors" but I'm not sure I buy the sales pitch. The video didn't look real time to me. And, if "DC Motors" are so cheap, why is this 6x6x5 build area printer so expensive?

The stepper motors in most of the other printers around are also DC motors.

To control a DC motor to the precision you need, you need encoders. Most CNC milling machines I've seen use both steppers and encoders.

I know steppers are DC, that's why I put "DC Motors" in quotes :P and also why I don't quite trust the sales pitch.
