Chad Bridgewater, a graduate metalsmithing student at Peck School of Art and Design at the University of Milwaukee Wisconsin, is not afraid to take on a challenge. The designer recently showcased a new creation on his blog, BridgeMaker: a functional 3D printer created using the shell of an old post-WWII Craftsman table saw. After finding the saw for $5 at a rummage sale, gutting it of nonfunctional components, and some higher-tech additions, Bridgewater created his working 3D printer. The machine now features an LCD screen, power supply, SD card slot, and Arduino board. He's also created a working laser engraver using a post-WWII Craftasman table saw, in another throwback-meets-high-tech project.
