3D Printed Shell for a Turtle

In yet another amazing 3D printing application to save an animal, The 3D Printing Store in Denver teamed with Canyon Critters and Colorado Technical University to 3D print a prosthetic shell for a Tortoise named Cleopatra. The shell was printed in several pieces on an FDM machine out of PLA plastic, and then glued together. The shell was needed to alleviate a condition known at pyramiding that the Tortoise had suffered due to malnourishment. The shell was gradually getting worn and could lead to an infection as well as pain for the female turtle. More details on this incredible use of 3D printing to save this teenage turtle can be found here: http://3dprint.com/53832/3d-printed-tortoise-shell/
