Vishal Patel, a product design student at London's Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, has created a waterproof case for his smartphone -- and the finished product is only 3D printed. Patel had intended to use 3D printing to design a prototype, but found that the case worked as intended without needing to be injection molded. Designed in SOLIDWORKS and MakerWare, several iterations led to a successful case, which Patel printed using PLA and NinjaFlex in about 5-6 hours print time. The 5-piece case design allows for submersion in 15-80 cm of water without damaging the phone. Read more about Patel's design in the full story: http://3dprint.com/52286/3d-printed-smartphone-case/
