Nick Lamarre really is a rocket scientist. He's a member of PrintTheBus, a group of space enthusiasts and engineers bent on 3D printing a small satellite to compete in NASA's $5 million CubeQuest Challenge. Their entry will be a one-piece aluminum satellite structure with empty spaces to store propellant which will include structures like valves, battery mounts and isolators 3D printed to save space.
