MPA technology is a thermal and pressure injection process which uses metal powder and kinetic energy to meld materials to build surfaces for large-volume components with highly complex inner geometries. When wedded to a 5-axis milling machine made by Hermle, the method can build parts from combinations of metals like copper and stainless steels. The process uses metal powder suspended in nitrogen and propelled through specialized 'de Laval' nozzle at three times the speed of sound to create strong and millable coatings.
