We have already heard about the 3D Printed liver tissue that Organova had figured out how to 3D Print, however one of the main issues holding them back from printing entire functioning livers was the difficulty they had in printing arteries within that tissue. Well, a Japanese company called CyFuse Biomedical has done just that. They have used human skin cells to 3D print arteries which can be used within the human body.



The company expects to have these arteries available for human transplants, which could help in bipass surgeries among other things, around 2018. They are currently testing the 3d Printed arteries on experimental animals. Clinical trials should begin next year or the year after most likely.
