Italian designers Filippo Nassetti and Alessandro Zomparelli, of Studio MHOX, are using an “integrated framework” of mathematical formulas, 3D scanning, and additive manufacturing technology to build wearable simulations of biological phenomenon. The pair's Carapace Project looks to the protective structures creatures like lobsters and insects use to build outer shells for the human body that are both functional and a bit fearsome to behold.
