    i.materialise Offering 18k Gold

Now i.materialise, the online 3D printing service, community and marketplace for creative people, is offering and option for users to print in 18K gold. The process remains the same as for objects printed in 14K gold, but the company says there will be slight differences in the appearance of the finished objects due to the different metallic composition of the two grades of gold. You can read the whole story here: http://3dprint.com/45054/i-materialise-18k-gold/

Below is a photo of a 3D printed 18K gold ring from i.materialise. Let us know if you have ordered any prints which have been created with 18k gold. How did they turn out?

The lost wax process. Use a special filament make the model cover it in clay, melt out the filament and then cast in that. Same process as used in the bronze age just no 3d printers then.
