Ultrasonic welding uses a combination of high-frequency vibration while a material is under moderately high clamping force to create parts without the use of heat, current, or consumables. What it means in practice is that non-ferrous metals, both similar and dissimilar, can be welded with very high accuracy. Now Fabrisonic is touting a process which uses both ultrasonic additive welding and CNC milling to create highly complex parts which can be used to create everything from very efficient heat sinks to parts which include embedded electronics.
