VanGuard 3D Robotic 3D Printer Concept

New Zealand Industrial Design student and James Dyson Award recipient Will Nicholson invented a portable 3D printer that has the potential to function even in the most challenging environment. The Vanguard 3D takes additive manufacturing to extreme conditions, 3D printing structures using a cement and expanding foam matrix, adjusting print widths and adapting to the particular specifications of the object its creating via remote control. Check out more details on the Vanguard 3D in the full article: http://3dprint.com/38081/vanguard-3d/

Below is a photo of the Vanguard 3D. Do you envision such a printer being made possible any time in the near future? What would you change about the Vanguard 3D if you could, and what are some of it's main benefits compared with static 3D printers?
