Sounds like you need to adjust your drive belt, because it is slipping.
Graphics card or graphics driver issue, most likely- nothing to do with the makerbot software. You can try updating the driver.

If you're talking about just the nozzle, putting it in a cup of acetone and agitating it every once in a while will clear the nozzle without any damage.
