I just measured mine with my micrometer and it looks like they sit just a hair under 4 mm over the aluminum bed so they may stick up over your 3 mm plates a tad.

It's more expensive, not less, but I'd get an SLA printer like the Form Labs for its incredible super fine resolution. If you're getting many you would need one of those for sure. I know I want one....
