Printing, no problems. Storing, however, was a different issue. Stuff snaps like twigs.
Depends on shells, infill, and complexity of the model. For the most part I just say I'm using 1 cm^3 of plastic and any savings is bonus.

The other option is you slice the model in half in blender and add a mirror modifier. That's how I'd do it.
