Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection Just Got Easier Thanks to 3D Printed Tool

A German research consortium, led by Dr. Alexander Meining at University of Ulm in Germany, has created a new 3D printed device that may be prove to be a relief for everyone involved. Regarding both endoscopic intervention and endoscopic submucosal dissection, there are many concerns with traditional procedures which is why the team was motivated to use 3D printing in order to eliminate safety concerns, longer times to perform procedure, as well as a steep learning curve using the traditional tube. The 3D printed device is an overtube with two arms which allows for easy manipulation of the device, and reduces perforation rates to nearly zero.
