GE Opens CATA, New 3D Printing Facility in Pittsburgh

General Electric is causing more than a bit of excitement in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, as they opened a new facility on Tuesday, just for additive manufacturing—and mainly in metal. Referred to as CATA, for the Center for Additive Technology Advancement, the idea is to integrate all GE businesses into the facility so that they are able to become very familiar with and use the technology of 3D printing.
