Selecting segmets in a part that you want to be solid as opposed to framework.

Hey i've invented a neat little trick to overcome the problem when you want a certain segment in a part to be solid and elsewhere the usual hexadecimal framework or whatever you prefer. I call these bostrom-slits. The trick simply works by opening the model in an editing program like Solid Edge, TinkerCAD, Blender or Cura and creating small slits (0,0001 mm or so) where you want the part to be solid instead of hollow. The slicing software (makerbot, ultimaker etc) will then later recognise these as slits and print them out but of course these will not appear in real life where the plastic will merge into one piece. This is usefull when you want to to postprint edits to the part like drill holes and thread them for example but still want to keep weight down and save material.

I hope this helps some of you guys out there. I had this problem and found out by accident that you can do this. It all makes sense and isnt complicated at all.
