3D Scanning to Analyze Footprints

3D technologies are making gathering information from footprints easier and more accessible. From the use of 3D scans of 1.5 million year old prints left in Kenya to the collection of data about footwear impressions left at the scene of a crime, the 3D scanner is an increasingly important tool. Researchers at Bournemouth University have developed a software called DigTrace that is freely available and could help advance the extraction of information from these unintentional messages from the past.
