Texas Institute of Jewelry Technology CAD Training - Paris, TX

I received my CAD training at the Texas Institute of Jewelry Technology in Paris, TX. The school is affiliated with Paris Junior College and they teach Jewelrymaking, Watchmaking, Gemology, and CAD/CAM.

The CAD/CAM class is a one semester course taken on-site in Paris TX. The class has a jewelry focus so during classes you will be learning how to make jewelry using Matrix, which is a jewelry-related plug-in for the CAD software Rhino. Each student is responsible for printing a certain number of pieces over the course of the semester using the 3D printers at the school to demonstrate their comprehension of the use of 3D printers and preparing CAD models for printing. The 3D Printers there are made by Envisiontec and they use a castable material which you will learn how to cast at the school. The 3D printers are a relatively new addition to the school. When I was at the school, we received training using a Revo wax mill.

This school is a wonderful place, the teachers are knowledgeable in their fields, and they encourage creativity in their students. I highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for CAD training with a jewelry focus, and don't mind living in Paris TX for a semester.
