+Mfg +1000k Metal 3D printer

Kentucky Based +Mfg LLC. has just announced a new Metal 3D printer which they will officially unveil in Chicago next week at Automate 2015. The printer is capable of printing in multiple metals during a single run. It also has a build volume of a cubic meter and a smaller footprint. It uses a special arc welding process and can print 2kgs of metal per hour currently. Interesting that they've gone with what is essentially a fff style process rather than the laser powder cube method which gives you a lot more versatility in some areas and less in others (you can't make entirely enclosed sections for example).

If I ever win the euro-lottery (note to self - start buying tickets) I could have some really really nice toys in my giant workshop :-)

We can work for peanuts, but cash is always preferred. :-)
Note that this machine is intended for industrial applications.
Not many hobbyists need to make a new engine block to get into their car for the race on Sunday.

In regard to fff process versus powder.... The main design objectives for this machine were fast, safe, clean, and inexpensive... in other words, practical for the production floor. Found that powder based units just do not make the grade against these four criteria.

Good luck on that euro-lottery path to toyland.
